We all wonder during times like these on how are we going to vacation due to different restrictions and guidelines. The process of planning a vacation in the United States is hard without knowing if you will have to be quarantined for fourteen days or not. Since my best friend missed celebrating her 30th birthday on time, we decided to postpone the celebration a month later and take a staycation in Tampa. We made the best of it during our weekend stay, and it was a blast!
Tampa is only an hour and a half away from Orlando where we are from but it still felt like a vacation. We rented a house off of Vrbo which is similar to Airbnb. The location was in Old Carrollwood and it was perfect since it was close to everything. The house was a three bedroom/three bath with a pool in a quiet neighborhood. There were five of us, so it was definitely big enough. We were excited that the owner, Lisa, let us check in early at 11am! So we headed there early in the morning so we could spend the whole day in the pool. We brought bunch of pool floats and it was honestly relaxing. That night we decided to stay in and cook out. After eating, drinking, and napping on the floats, our bodies didn’t go to bed until 3am haha!
The next day all we did was float in the pool but only until the evening since we did decide to go out. It took us awhile to find a place because most restaurants were already full or weren’t taking any reservations due to COVID-19. We finally found Jacksons Bistro Bar & Sushi on Harbour Island. Once we got there, we were lucky enough we didn’t have to wait and got a table outside looking over the water. I highly recommend it and will be going back in the near future.
The last day was checkout but Lisa was kind enough to let us leave at 4pm. It gave us more time in the pool and clean up before we packed up to head back to Orlando. It was a short stay, but I know we will be back and I am hoping during better times. Sometimes you just have to surround yourself with friends to have a fun low key staycation!
