I absolutely loved my recent stay in Omaha, Nebraska and it was my first time visiting the state. I wanted to create a short & quick to the point travel guide and reel. Make sure you save this link for your next visit to Omaha!
Where to Stay: Hotel Indigo
Hotel Indigo is the perfect hotel to stay in while visiting Omaha. It is right downtown, with only 15 mins of a walk to Old Market. You can have some amazing views of the city. The lobby and rooms are super cute and are very modern. The hotel will be opening a restaurant and speakeasy soon! You can also rent the bikes and explore the city. I had such an amazing stay at the hotel. You can get more info here.
5 Places To Eat & Drink:
Laka Lona Tiki Bar: The bar’s motto: “Escape from Omaha’s Old Market and dive down into our Oasis loaded with rum, cocktails, delicious treats, and all the tropical flavors needed to cool you on a hot day…or whisk you away from the bitter cold.”
Blue Sushi Sake Grill: Make sure you go for happy hour to get half off drinks and food!
The Take Off Rooftop Bar: Located on the eighth floor of The Peregrine Hotel, the Takeoff Rooftop Bar offers cityscape views of downtown Omaha. Relax in the ambiance and cozy up by the firepit with crafted cocktails.
Sullivan’s Steakhouse: You always need to find a steakhouse while visiting Omaha!
Plank Seafood: Is a coastally-inspired oyster bar and seafood grill located in the heart of the Old Market in Omaha, Nebraska.
5 Things To Do:
Old Market Passageway: Omaha’s Old Market is a diverse area of shopping, dining and entertainment. The area attracts all demographics a business could want – families and couples during the day, as well as into the evening. Toss in the younger bar crowd toward night time and the Old Market becomes a people watching extravaganza. The one-time alley was developed about three decades ago into a series of shops and restaurants. You can find a mélange of interests – Mexican food and steak dinners, international clothing and curiosity items at stores. You can browse a litany of books, as well as check out an array of artwork. The neat thing about the area is that several of the businesses have been a part of the Passageway for decades.
Gene Leahy Mall: The Mall is encircled by a long pathway that wraps around a large lagoon. There are also waterfalls, two huge slides, a horseshoe pit, and an amphitheater where outdoor concerts are held in the summer. The mall is decorated with thousands of lights during the winter holiday season.
Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge:This stunning, 3,000-foot long walkway stretches across the Missouri River, giving pedestrians a spectacular view of Omaha’s skyline and an almost airborne experience. On the Nebraska side, enjoy the 3-acre Omaha Plaza with an interactive water jet fountain, and access to the National Park Service Visitors Center. The bridge is connected to more than 150 miles of nature trails – visitors love to bike and walk on Bob. Enjoy live music in the Plaza area on Fridays during the summer. The plaza is surrounded by a large amphitheater-like grass seating. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and/or blankets.
Henry Dooley Zoo & Aquarium: One of the top 5 zoos in the country! It has a rainforest, a desert dome, and an aquarium located in the zoo. Make sure to get there early since the zoo will take you a half of day to explore (or more if you have kids!)
CHI Health Center: Omaha’s largest arena & convention center and the hottest spot for live entertainment, sporting events, conventions, meetings and weddings.
See you next time Omaha!
